PAMPLONA – THE CITY OF JOY AND FUN
It’s a crazy experience that stays with you forever. We of course are talking about the running with the bulls. But just before we get into that, we want to emphasize that Pamplona is just as exciting through the rest of the year as it is in July. There is so much to see, so much to do in and around Pamplona. For example, did you know that Pamplona is only 94km away from the city of San Sebastian?
Anyway, let’s start with the running with the bulls. It’s an annual festival held between 6 and 14 July. It’s a hundred-year tradition that Ernest Hemingway wrote about and, in a way, made famous in his novel The Sun Also Rises. It’s a trilling experience to say the least even if you are only there to watch. Some people say it’s a bit crazy and people sometimes do get hurt but it is a part of the tradition. Doing something like this takes a lot of courage.
Let’s get to why Pamplona is a destination you might want to visit any time of the year. It’s already a vibrant tourist destination because it’s warm all year long, has fantastic infrastructure and lots of sand in the beach. But it is also a huge attraction for someone who lives for the nightlife. There are a dozen top-notch night clubs, a bunch of cinemas, some that are open virtually 24/7 and everything else you might ever expect or want during a holiday in Spain. On the 0ther hand, it’s much more affordable than most locations around Spain that target tourists.
